Within his first 100 days Ihedioha set up a Judicial Commission of Enquiry into assets alleged to have been misappropriated under Rochas Okorocha; it recovered about ₦1.2 billion and properties including the Royal Palm Estate in Owerri, and reported ₦112.8 billion in questionable bank debts owed the state. The Supreme Court removed him from office on 15 January 2020, less than eight months in, and the recovery effort was suspended.

Promised a structured, technocrat-driven approach to governance rather than ad hoc decision-making.

Established a Transition Technical Committee bringing together intellectuals, technocrats and professionals to provide a guiding framework for rebuilding Imo State, and appointed Professor Uche Uwaleke, a leading capital-markets academic, as Finance Commissioner.

Promised to respect constitutionally-guaranteed local government autonomy, in contrast to the previous administration.
