1 Boilerplate

Copy-paste descriptions, short and long.

Short (1 sentence)

NGScorecard is a free, independent tracker of what Nigerian presidents and governors promised versus what they actually delivered — every entry sourced and dated.

Long (one paragraph)

NGScorecard is a free, independent civic-accountability tracker covering Nigeria's five most recent presidents and all 36 sitting state governors. It records what each administration promised and what actually happened — kept, partial, or broken — alongside budget allocations, fraud allegations and their outcomes, executive orders, bills, appointments, and court judgments, each entry dated and linked to its original source. Where an official figure (such as a state budget line) hasn't actually been published, NGScorecard marks it as unavailable rather than estimating one. The dataset is also available as a free public API and as an embeddable widget for newsrooms and civic-tech projects.

Categories per administration
  • Categories tracked: promises, budget, fraud cases, executive orders, bills, appointments, and court judgments.
  • Every entry is sourced and dated — no claim without a linked reference.
  • No derived numbers: when a real figure (e.g. an unpublished state budget line) doesn't exist, the field is left blank rather than estimated.
  • Free to use: the site, the public API, and the embeddable widget are all free, with no paywall or account requirement to read.

5 On sourcing

Worth knowing if you're citing figures from the site: every promise, fraud case, budget line, and order is dated and links to its original source — a government release, court filing, or reporting from an established outlet. NGScorecard doesn't publish estimates dressed up as facts; where a real number isn't publicly available, that field is left empty rather than filled in with a guess. If you find something that looks wrong or out of date, email us — we correct promptly and note the correction.
