What the case is about
APC candidate Hope Uzodinma challenged the March 2019 Imo governorship result, arguing that results from 388 polling units had been unlawfully excluded from the final collation.
Ruling & compliance
On 14 January 2020, a unanimous seven-member Supreme Court panel agreed that the 388 polling-unit results should have been included, which gave Uzodinma a majority of lawful votes; the court ordered INEC to withdraw Ihedioha's certificate of return and issue one to Uzodinma, who was sworn in immediately, ending Ihedioha's governorship after less than eight months.
