Implicit in returning to the governorship in 1999, having previously governed Taraba in 1992–1993 before a military coup cut that term short.

Assessment

Nyame won in 1999 and 2003 on the PDP platform and served both full terms to 29 May 2007 — making him the only person to have won three Taraba governorship elections (1992, 1999, 2003).

On leaving office Nyame was charged by the EFCC over about ₦1.64 billion of Taraba funds. He admitted misappropriating ₦180 million of ₦250 million released for stationery, and was convicted in 2018.
