What the case is about
Action Congress candidate Rauf Aregbesola challenged Oyinlola's victory in the 14 April 2007 governorship election, alleging irregularities in a number of local government areas.
Ruling & compliance
A retrial tribunal upheld Oyinlola's election on 28 May 2010, but the Court of Appeal in Ibadan, in a judgment by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, unanimously nullified the results of 10 local government areas on 26 November 2010; after the recalculation, Oyinlola's 172,880 votes fell below Aregbesola's 198,799, and Aregbesola was declared the duly elected governor more than three years after the original election.
