Allegation
The EFCC opened a fresh investigation into all salaries, allowances and estacodes Saraki received as governor from 2003 to 2011, alleging conspiracy, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds and money laundering; a related matter concerned a Kwara State-funded five-bedroom Ilorin duplex built under the state's 2010 Governor and Deputy Governor pension law, with the state providing ₦252.2 million toward its construction.
Outcome / Status
The EFCC sought forfeiture of the Ilorin property; Saraki's suits seeking court protection from the EFCC's investigation were struck out by the Federal High Court. A further, separate EFCC arrest and questioning over alleged laundering through proxy companies followed in 2021. No conviction had resulted from either matter as of the most recent reporting.
Administration's response
Saraki denied wrongdoing and said the Ilorin property was lawfully funded partly by the pension law and partly by his own funds.
